I have a really good memory, especially for relatively useless information. (And I say that knowing full well that it’s generous to call the random shit I remember even “relatively” useless. The license plate of the family car in 1980, anyone?) For things I genuinely want to cement into my gray matter – Italian verb conjugations, for instance – my memory can be annoyingly uncooperative.

Which is why I love mnemonics so much – and why, when I started knitting, I soon found myself making up mnemonics for the stuff I didn’t do often enough to just remember and still needed regularly enough that I didn’t want to keep having to look it up.

At any rate, I figured I can’t be the only one who needs a little help remembering some of this stuff, so I’m sharing.
